At Eldon and Children First Academy Trust, inclusion is central to everything we do. We believe every child, including those with SEND, has the right to an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum and to achieve success. Our approach is underpinned by the principle of assuming competence, maintaining high expectations for all learners, and ensuring equal access through inclusive teaching, adaptive practice and personalised support. We foster a shared responsibility for inclusion across the whole school community, invest in staff expertise and resources, and celebrate individual strengths while removing barriers to learning. Success is recognised in all aspects of development—academic, social, emotional and personal—ensuring every child can thrive and participate fully in school life.

At Eldon, we believe that inclusion underpins the role of all of our staff, including our leaders. As a large school, all of our leaders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead a fully inclusive school and we provide the best support and practice for all the children at our school, despite the level of need. Our Inclusion Team therefore includes a number of our leaders.

Our Inclusion Leads and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) are on hand for advice, guiding parents through the EHCP process, referrals to outside agencies, assessments, child protection concerns and any other situations where parents and families need support.

The children in the ARP have a carefully planned curriculum, which is planned to suit their needs and to ensure they make progress from all starting points. Many of the children in the ARP have sessions within a mainstream link classroom. Eldon works hard to ensure that all the children in the ARP are included within the school community.
