Hello and welcome back to all the Year 4 children. We will use this page to keep you informed on the exciting activities and learning that will be happening throughout the year for your children.
Throughout this half term we are learning about the Ancient Egyptians. We are focussing on the Egyptians through our English, History and Reading. In Science we are learning about sound and looking at how sound travels through the air and how instruments are used to create sounds of different texture, tone and pitch.
This half term in maths we are focussing on place value and are looking at 4 digit numbers. We will compare, order and find more of less than a given number.

We appreciate your support as parents at home to extend your child’s learning through extra research and home reading. The additional support of parents will help children to really excel this year. This year the children will be sitting the timetables and division test at the end of the year and it is very important that you support with their learning and help them achieve their targets.
We look forward to an enjoyable year and working with you and your children.
The Year 4 Team
Year 4 have been busy on Google classroom going through their learning. It has been challenging but now most children have settled into their learning and we are getting some excellent outcomes. Here are some examples of learning from the children.

Hi everyone,
As you know, there is currently a virus called Coronavirus which many people around the world are catching. People are talking about it and saying different things, and this can be very confusing for everyone. This is an unusual time for all of us and many families are now adapting their normal routines and staying at home in order to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
People have different feelings about what is going on at the moment. Some people are feeling sad, some are worried, some are angry as lots of things are changing. We all have different feelings! Nobody’s feelings are right or wrong, and it is important that you talk about how you feel.
It is important that while you are at home, take responsibility (do what you can to help around the home); show respect (listen to others in your home); be persistent (especially if you’re finding something tricky), show compassion (be kind to each other and yourself); stay active (try and do a daily exercise) and most of all – have some fun!
And one message for the grown-ups, please remember that you are not alone! Everyone at school are here for you and willing to help. You can contact me on yasmin.gal@place2be.org.uk
I’m missing you all very much and looking forward to seeing you as soon as possible.
Yours,
Yasmin, Place2Be

The children really enjoyed meeting the Science Boffin scientist and finding out about the different states of matter. They learnt about atoms and the three states of matter. In the workshop children were able to see and use dry ice and even made their very own slushy.
Acting out show to tell descriptions about characters from the story.
This half term year 4 visited the British Museum to look at the Ancient Egyptian exhibition and gallery. They looked at many different artifacts and saw the importance in the way the Egyptians lived. This was fun and educational.
