Summer Holiday Work

Autumn 2

Oaks Nursery

We have been focusing on listening/understanding and speaking as well as getting along together. Every activity from cooking to building, reading to running, is a chance to  hear and use new words: to share, be kind, and make new friends.

Autumn 2

Limes Nursery

In limes this term we focused on reading.

We read the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We learnt the language of size and we acted  out the story, using story tuff tray.

We read the Three Little Pigs, we made three houses using boxes and the enjoyed it. We learnt about shapes using play dough and mark making.

We introduced 'satpin' and this is still in progress.

We read The Gingerbread Man, they enjoyed making cookies and acting out the story. We made a big Christmas Tree by using boxes ( child initiated-they painted and decorated by taking turns , working as team.)

We made a shop, a small market. They enjoyed taking on a role play , using mathematical language and sharing.

Autumn 1

Our topic this half term is Action and Nursery Rhymes. We will be learning to sing and act out different action songs and nursery rhymes. By the end of the topic we will know a collection of songs and rhymes that will support us with our early reading and counting.

We will learn how to express our feelings and share with others. We will learn how to keep ourselves safe and become independent.

Reading is very important at Eldon Nursery and the children will experience storytelling, puppets, actions and songs to develop rhyme and fluency.

You can help us by;

  • sharing books with your child and discussing the pictures
  • playing songs and teach them to dance to the music
  • teach then the names of items such as food, furniture in the house and animals
  • count object or how many steps when walking up stairs
  • colour names
  • what their name looks like

We look forward to updating our page when the children start Nursery.
