I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as the new Headteacher of Eldon. It's a privilege to have been appointed. My name is Jane Flynn, I have been working in education for over 20 years and previous roles have included Headteacher in a Haringey school and working as an adviser for Haringey Local Authority.
My first impressions of Eldon have been so positive. Last term, I worked with Ms Messer to ensure a smooth handover of information and I got to meet the very effective senior leaders in the school. This week, I have been able to begin to meet the staff teams. I am struck already by the dedication and hard-working ethos to which the staff are committed.
I had a chance last term to meet a number of you that came to a meeting. This week, I have met a few more of you and over the next few weeks I hope to get to know yet more of you. I am amazed in the morning and after school to see how well the system works in terms of getting children into school, ready to learn on time and I know that your cooperation is key to this.
My priority for the coming term is to get to know the school community in more detail so that together as a team - staff, pupils and families - we can build on the high expectations we have of each other and continue the school's journey to becoming really exceptional.
As you know, we are having a new dining centre built. Unfortunately, the building programme is behind schedule and so we are not able to access the new kitchen. As a result, children are receiving a healthy, cold meal this term. Whilst this is not ideal, our kitchen staff are doing their best to provide a varied and tasty lunch so please bear with us.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child please talk to their class teacher, if they are unable to help then please make an appointment to see our deputy heads, Mrs Bathija (in the Infants) or Mrs Smith (in the Juniors). If you specifically wish to speak to me or Ms Williams (our Associate Head), please call the school office and they will be able to make an appointment. Otherwise, I will aim to be in the playgrounds before and after school so do please say hello.
