We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our expectations for attendance in the coming months. At Eldon Primary, we strive to ensure that all students continue a structured timetable to support the next stage in their academic and social development. We believe this supports their learning and attainment, giving them the best opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Eldon Primary school will not authorise any leave of absence taken before or after term time holidays, unless there are exceptional circumstances or supporting medical evidence. If your child is absent from school in the time leading up to or immediately after term time holidays, you may be liable for a Penalty Notice. This will be applied for by the school and issued by the local authority.
The Penalty Notice fine cost is £60.00 per parent per child if paid within 21 days (this includes weekends) or subsequent £120 per parent per child if paid within 28 days (the 28 day count starts from the date issued as shown on your invoice). If the payment is not made within the above time limits, the case may result in prosecution under the Education Act 1996 for the original offence of failing to ensure your child attends school regularly.
Please note, if your child is taken out of school during term time without permission, your child’s registered school place may be terminated and you will have to re-apply for another school place on your return.
