Year 1 will have the wonderful opportunity to start learning to play the violin in September. Lessons will be held in school and led by experienced tutors from Enfield Music Services. The application forms will be with Mrs Smart soon. So watch this space for more information.
Wow! The Year 2 concert was a real success. The children should be very proud of their performances. Here are just some of the items they performed.

KS2 - Spring 2
Year 5 playing Brahms lullaby. First they learned all 5 parts on non-tuned and tuned percussion instruments, then came together in small groups to play all 5 parts at the same time with a score to aid them.

Year 6 in the process of preparing a body percussion compass. In pairs they composed their own body percussion pattern, towards a group activity then finally a class performance. We extended this piece using a bean bag.

Year 1 African Drumming
Year 1 performed rhythmically and confidently to their parents on the West African djembe. They showed a good sense of pulse and how to work in a drumming circle following the master drummer. A big thank you to the parents who joined in!

Year 1 are continuing to work on their ensemble and rhythmic skills using the djembe. Year 1 parents are invited to a short performance Monday 27th March
9 am Blackberry and Orchid classes
9.45 am Sunflower and Crocus classes

Year 2 have been developing their understanding of pitch and pitched instruments through Gamelan workshops.
They had an exciting session playing as an ensemble. These instruments were from Java. Can you see the gongs?

Red Hot Group
The Year 2 Red Hot Group enjoyed an interactive concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London. They joined in with the music performed by the orchestra.

This term the children are learning high and low sounds. They will be exploring these sounds with their voices and instruments.
Year 1
Year 1 have an exciting term learning how to play to the djembe. In their drumming circles they are also developing ensemble skills and where the drums come from.
Year 2
Year 2 are exploring pitch and pitched instruments. They will be composing with high/low , sounds going up/down and high, middle and low sounds.

Year 2 Red Hot Group joined the Choir Festival held at Eastfield School. They sung their two -part song called 'Down by the bay' really well and you could certainly feel the energy in the hall as all five schools sung 'You've got the power in me'!

Year 1 are exploring long and short sounds. They choose an instrument that could play long and short sounds and composed their own long and short sounds pattern.
Year 2
Year 2 are composing with word-rhythms. They composed a rhythm pattern using red and yellow balloons. They can also play other children's patterns.
The Year 2 Red Hot group have been composing with high, middle and low sounds and matching their singing voices.
